During my time at Shed, one of my primary (and favorite) responsibilities has been working on The Lounge. This non-branded lifestyle destination functions as an inclusive online community for one of our agency clients. The audience relevant, lifestyle-based content we create from scratch, focuses heavily on style & design, food & drink, music and competition, which is brought to life through features, videos, polls, life hacks, challenges, co-creation activities, and more. In addition to providing a means to further connect with the brand’s target audience, the goal of The Lounge is to entertain, inspire, and put a smile on viewers’ faces, which it has more than succeeded in doing.
I have served in many capacities on this project, primarily focusing on concepting and creating the monthly themes, coming up with ideas for stories, and writing many of the features, as well as providing creative direction and feedback throughout production. To date, the site averages roughly 1,200,000 UVs a year, and is growing quickly.
All it took was a five-minute conversation with F.I.L.T.H.E.E. and a quick listen to the track to convince me to make a video for this song.
As executive producer, I wrote the original treatment, secured the financing and distribution, hired Rakontur to direct, got Pete Rock to do an exclusive remix of the track, scouted locations, oversaw the final edit of the video and the development of the DVD packaging.
After the project’s completion, I helped F.I.L.T.H.E.E. license the track to TNA Wrestling for a massive international promotion. The video garnered over 400 million views and proved to be a huge success for the artist.
What could be more rewarding than spending a weekend playing production assistant/cameraman on my friend’s directorial debut for the video of Jerry Joseph and Wally Ingram’s epic cover of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.”
